Edifier M330 II Retro Speaker Adds AirPlay 2, LDAC, and 60W Power

Edifier has launched the M330 II Bluetooth speaker in China at 959 yuan, or about $138, positioning it as a portable, living room friendly wireless speaker with upgraded wireless codecs and Apple integration. The company says the new model adds LDAC support, Apple AirPlay 2, and longer battery life compared with the previous generation.

A retro cabinet built for modern rooms

The M330 II leans into a vintage aesthetic with a full wooden cabinet made from 12 mm MDF, a dual tone fabric grille, and piano style buttons across the top. Edifier also includes a concealed rear carrying handle, framing it as a grab and go speaker despite its furniture like build. Color options include wood grain, black walnut, and pearl white.

A 2.1 layout that targets real listening volume

Edifier describes the M330 II as a 2.1 channel design with two newly tuned 1 inch silk dome tweeters and a 4 inch mid bass driver using a composite wool cone. The company claims the driver setup reaches up to 40 kHz and meets Hi Res Audio requirements for both wired and wireless playback, which is the pitch for listeners who want more than background audio from a compact box.

Amplification and output claims put it above typical portable speakers

Inside, the M330 II uses dual Texas Instruments TAS5805 Class D amplifier chips. Edifier rates the speaker at 60W continuous output with a 120W peak figure, and says it can cover spaces up to 50 square meters. Those numbers put it closer to a small bookshelf system than the battery powered cylinders that dominate the portable category, although real world loudness will still depend on placement and tuning.

LDAC and AirPlay 2 signal a two ecosystem strategy

On the wireless side, the M330 II supports LDAC at up to 990 kbps with 24 bit and 96 kHz audio, and it uses Bluetooth 5.4 with dual device connectivity. For Apple users, AirPlay 2 works over dual band Wi Fi, which typically offers more stable multi room and streaming behavior than Bluetooth for home setups.

Wired options cover PCs and older sources

Edifier includes AUX input for analog sources, plus a USB sound card mode for direct audio from a computer. USB charging is also supported, giving the M330 II a straightforward wired fallback for users who do not want to rely on wireless connections.

Battery size and playback expectations

The M330 II runs on a 38.48Wh lithium battery, listed as 7.4V and 5200mAh. Edifier claims up to 14 hours of playback at moderate volume and about 11 hours at higher output, a practical range for daylong listening and short trips as long as you keep expectations in check at louder settings.

App control focuses on basics that matter

The speaker supports the Edifier Connect app for EQ customization, input switching, firmware updates, and timer settings. Physical dimensions are listed at 250 by 162 by 179 mm, reinforcing that it is portable by handle, not pocketable by design.

The Daily Tech Lens take

The M330 II’s most important decision is not the retro styling, it is the pairing of AirPlay 2 and LDAC in a single speaker at this price. If Edifier delivers stable Wi Fi streaming, clean output at real room volume, and consistent app support, the M330 II could be a sensible middle ground between tiny portables and larger home systems. Buyers should watch for two practical details before committing: whether replacement batteries and parts are serviceable, and whether AirPlay 2 performance stays reliable in busy Wi Fi environments, since those two factors tend to define long term satisfaction more than peak wattage claims.
