Realme Neo 8 Revealed With 8,000mAh Power Cell and Snapdragon Chip

Realme has confirmed its next performance focused smartphone just hours before launch. Official teasers released ahead of the January 20 unveiling in China confirm that the Realme Neo 8 will ship with an 8,000mAh battery, placing it among the largest capacity phones in its class and signaling a clear focus on endurance rather than thinness.

The confirmed battery figure alone sets the tone for where the Neo 8 sits in the market. An 8,000mAh cell is significantly larger than what most flagship phones offer today and even exceeds many gaming focused devices. While Realme has not formally stated charging speeds, industry reports point to support for 80W fast charging, which would be necessary to make a battery of this size practical for daily use.

Durability is another pillar of the Neo 8 strategy. Realme has confirmed IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings, covering protection against dust, high pressure water jets, and full immersion. This level of certification is still rare outside rugged phones and suggests the Neo 8 is built for harsher conditions than typical flagships.

Usability features also lean toward power users. The phone will include an ultrasonic in screen fingerprint sensor that functions with wet hands, paired with crystal armor glass designed to improve scratch resistance. Realme has also confirmed an X axis linear motor for haptics and a super linear stereo speaker system, targeting gaming and media consumption rather than camera centric marketing.

Reports ahead of launch fill in the remaining hardware picture. The Realme Neo 8 is expected to feature a 6.78 inch Samsung AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate. That panel specification places it firmly in the performance flagship category, where smooth scrolling and sustained frame rates matter more than pushing 4K resolution.

Powering the device is expected to be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, paired with configurations that go as high as 24GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. If confirmed, those memory and storage figures would exceed what many mainstream flagships currently offer, reinforcing the Neo 8’s positioning as a spec driven device.

Camera hardware appears more restrained compared to the rest of the spec sheet. The phone is tipped to use a 16 megapixel front camera, while the rear setup reportedly includes a 50 megapixel main sensor with optical stabilization, an 8 megapixel ultra wide camera, and a 50 megapixel periscope telephoto lens. This configuration suggests Realme is aiming for versatility rather than competing directly with camera focused flagships from Samsung or Apple.

Physically, the Neo 8 is expected to measure around 8.3mm thick and weigh roughly 215 grams. For a phone carrying an 8,000mAh battery, those numbers suggest aggressive internal packaging rather than a radical redesign. Color options are expected to include Origin White, Mecha Grey, and Cyber Purple.

Realme has not disclosed pricing ahead of launch, but based on the company’s recent positioning in China, the Neo 8 is likely to land in the upper midrange to affordable flagship bracket. That would place it roughly between $450 and $550 when converted to US pricing, depending on memory configuration and regional availability.

We believe the Realme Neo 8 is shaping up as a battery first flagship that prioritizes endurance, durability, and sustained performance over slim design or camera dominance. For buyers who value long screen time, gaming stability, and rugged credentials, the Neo 8 could stand out in a crowded 2026 market, provided Realme keeps pricing aggressive and software support consistent beyond launch.
